Kaléa is a joy to sail. She is very manageable with her ketch rig and twin headsail layout, with none of the sails being over large, but their combination producing a lot of power with a relatively low centre of effort. With a waterline length of 15m (50’), she is quickly sailing at 8 – 9 knots, so passage making becomes swift and effortless.

At the cockpit the primary sheet winches are electric, and she has electric deck winches on the fore and aft decks to assist in mooring.

When sailing off the wind, she has a mizzen staysail and asymmetric spinnaker with a snuffer which gives the sailors plenty to do, and makes Kaléa a spectacle in any fleet.

And when it comes on to blow, Kaléa's fine entry, long keel and 42 tonnes of expertly crafted timber really come into their own. Unlike smaller, lighter yachts which tend to slam, Kaléa shrugs off the chop with reassuring indifference, making rough passages calm and comfortable.
